How to change Google Chrome’s language settings

I travel often and sometimes the language in Google Chrome changes. It’s ok for Spanish but not so much for other languages.

Other times, I need to modify the language settings to work with a colleague on a project. So, I switch the language in Chrome to their language.

If you find yourself in either situation, here are the steps that I use to change the language in Google Chrome back to English.

Time needed: 5 minutes.

Change language in Google Chrome

  1. Settings

Click/tap the 3 dotted icon in the upper-right corner of the Chrome window, and choose “Settings”.

  2. Advanced Settings

Scroll to the bottom of the settings menu and click/tap “Advanced”.

  3. Language

    Choose “Language”.

  4. Select

Tap or click “Add Languages” then check and add the language you want.

If the language remains the same then clear the cache on Chrome to see the latest changes.

And, if you are using a mobile device like an Android or an iPhone, you can change the language settings under “Settings” > “Language and input“.

This allows you to adjust the language for Chrome but it will also adjust the language for other apps and the system on a whole.

Another thing that I like to do is check the traffic to work using Chrome. Maybe you’ll like that too.
